ARTISSIMA 2019 – NEW ENTRIES FAIR FUND POWERED BY PROFESSIONAL TRUST COMPANY
Professional Trust Company, in partnership with Artissima, has started a project to support the participation of emerging galleries at the fair. The idea was born from the attention and sensitivity of Professional Trust Company and its management towards the art world and in particular towards the youngest gallery owners and artists who are at the beginning of their career in the art market.
The creation of the fund is the result of reflections and exchanges of opinions between the Chairman of the Board of Directors of PTC, Tommaso Tisot, lawyer, great lover of contemporary art and collector, and the Director of Artissima, Ilaria Bonacossa, both united by the desire to concretely support emerging art galleries: thanks to the fund, three young galleries will be able to take part in the show and have both them, as well as their artists, an international visibility. Special attention is paid to galleries that are located in countries where contemporary art does not enjoy particular fortune and for which therefore an international showcase of prestige such as Artissima takes on particular importance.
The fund has been established for a three year period to pursue this intent. Every year, the three galleries that have applied for the New Entries section and are considered the most interesting for research and talent scouting, will receive a financial contribution of 4,000 euros each to finance their participation at Artissima.
This year, Professional Trust Company – in collaboration with the selection committee and Lucrezia Calabrò Visconti, curator of the New Entries 2019 section – has shortlisted the following galleries:
- Emalin, Londra, with a project of Athena Papadopoulos
- Öktem Aykut, Istanbul, with a project of Can Altay and Ihsan Oturmak
- Vin Vin, Vienna, with a project of Myles Starr
